I love this easy to make and versatile cowl! The pattern only uses Ewraps and Purls in a simple repeat. Color combinations make the cowl pop, and it can be worn different ways to create a variety of different looks!
Shown below is the cowl worn 3 ways - simply pulled over head, as a hood/head covering, and folded over (left to right) in two variations.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
LOOM: KB adjustable loom or 3/8" gauge round loom with 98 pegs
YARN: Approximately 400 yards of worsted 4 weight yarn
I used Caron Simply Soft in Burgundy and Pagoda in Variation B (striped) and I used multiple colors of a local superwash merino wool for Variation A (blue multicolor).
I recommend Caron Simply Soft or a similar silky soft yarn. If you are using multiple colors, you can also use a slightly heavier yarn like a wool for half of the cowl like I did for Variation A for extra warmth and to add more structure to the cowl when folded over.
TOOLS: loom hook, yarn needle, row counter (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Crochet chain cast on 98 pegs in the round.
Variation A (blue multicolor)
This cowl is entirely garter stitch.
Row 1: Purl all pegs
Row 2: Ewrap all pegs
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for a length of 15-17 inches.
(Optional) Change colors for a fun pattern and to add dimension to the cowl.
I changed colors at a length of 8 inches and again at 11 inches. I used a purple/aqua multicolor yarn for my first color, a teal/aqua multicolor yarn for my second color, and a shimmery blue for my third color.
Take work off loom and weave all ends in.
Variation B (striped)
The body of this pattern is 10 rows of garter stitch followed by 3 rows of Ewrap.
Row 1: Purl all pegs
Row 2: Ewrap all pegs
Repeat for 8 more rows for a total of 10 rows.
Row 11-13: Ewrap all pegs
You will repeat rows 1-13 for remainder of the entire cowl, changing colors every 26 rows, or the third Ewrap on the second repeat of the body pattern.
Rows 14-23: Repeat rows 1 and 2 (garter stitch for 10 rows).
Rows 24-25: Ewrap all pegs.
Row 26: Change colors, Ewrap all pegs.
Repeat for a length of 15-17 inches.
End with a row of purls to avoid curling. For even stripes, you will want to end with completing 2 repeats of the body in one color through the 25th row.
I did a total of 101 rows for two stripes of each color. For a longer cowl, you can do 127 rows.
Bind off with basic bind off.
Take work off loom and weave all ends in.
